And through these exploration processes, learn to strike a balance between the real environment and the digital world, to incase the wellbeing of both students and the communities.
And most import to echo (ISTE Standards 4d ) model the use of instructional design principles with educators to create effective digital learning environments. Use digital technology and media as solutions to assist students with special learning needs, so that they can get the same learning opportunities as normal students. On the other hand, as a bridge, different types of students are encouraged to help each other, whether they have special needs or not, and use their different strengths to explore a digital community that ‘symbiosis’ with disabilities and health.Let anyone can share and learn knowledge equality. Through digital technology and media, remove the barriers of time, race, and all kinds of barriers so that education and learning have no boundaries and limits.
Respect: Civic and values communication
Provide opportunities for students participating in the Digital and Media Literacy Programs will have a higher chance of participating in discussions on social issues than students not participating in such Programs. (Martens, H., & Hobbs, R., 2015) At the same time, Martens & Hobbs suggest that: ‘By improving young people’s Media literacy analysis skills, Media knowledge, internet use, and information-use motives.’ effectively improve their civic engagement interest. (Martens, H., & Hobbs, R., 2015) Increasing youth attention to society overall can increase their general citizenship. (Jones, l., & Mitchell, K., 2016) More and more organizations use digital resources to help schools provide students with an online platform for discussion and attention to civic engagement.
As coaching participants bringing encouragement, empathy, justice, compassion, and care else digital culture anytime everywhere and as a role model. Encourage originality and respect the creation of others. Leading participants become righteousness and obey the law ‘Good digital citizen.’ (ISTE 7) And spot possible future digital leaders. Give back and serve the communities and society.
Balance: Holistic well-being
As human beings enter the post digital age, it will become increasingly difficult to separate reality and virtual life, and it will be difficult to draw a line between them. Even though digital technology has brought a revolutionary advancement to our life and study and improved efficiency and quality to a certain extent. However, we must not underestimate the negative effects of digital technology. These negative factors definitely have a considerable chance of destroying and affecting the physical and mental health of the next generation.
Today, screen time is getting longer and longer, losing interest in communicating with people in real life, also affecting academic performance. When the situation gets worse, insomnia and nervousness will occur, lose interest in things other than online, or even feel anxious and irritable because of not being able to conduct online activities. ( Hirota, O., McElroy, E. & So, R. 2020 ) These conditions can commonly find both in students with special needs and general students, and there is not much deviation in the data. ( Hirota, O., McElroy, E. & So, R. 2020 )
Even though digital technology can indeed help students with special learning needs solve some problems in learning and communication to some extent or in some cases. But relying too much on it will have the opposite effect. Many parents of cases have found that when they think that some digital technologies, games, and software can improve the communication problems of their children with different special need . It also produces serious adverse internet addiction results. (Dunckley, K., 2016) She points out that the main reason is that once digital technology is used, parents may trust these technologies, but ignore some basic training, such as face-to-face communication between parents and children. In the communication process, eye contact and other exercises mat required. (Dunckley, K., 2016) Therefore, it can be seen that the wellbeing between the real and virtual environments can occur relatively and at the same time. Therefore, when exploring how to effectively use digital technology to help students improve the quality of learning, it is also necessary to consider how to use digital technology as an attraction and platform to increase youth People still exist in other healthy activities in physical life and keep training them to face-to-face communication skills and abilities in real environments.
As coaching should have a purposely, guide educators, parents and students. Appropriate use of digital technology and the Internet, establish communication groups and channels outside of online, so that students can have the opportunity to build communication skills and opportunities outside of online. At the same time, we must work closely with educators and parents to closely monitor student online activities and screen time. Once students have abnormalities or signs of online addiction, appropriate counseling and assistance should be provided immediately.
Equality: Barrier-free symbiosis platform
Equality is the most improve ethics value, As Bible said: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) Since God created man in his own image, everything he created is equal and there is no difference. Therefore, social class, status, poverty and wealth are all the same before God, and he loves them all. But because of the sins of mankind, this special status given to man by God may be destroyed. And the justice we express in human society should be used to protect and give us equal identities and opportunities from God. but in fact since justice can only be carried out according to God’s own will. As Bible said: Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19) As a human being, it is only possible to imitate and refer to a certain degree, and it is impossible to meet the basic requirements. This is a fundamental limitation of mankind. However, the current social system has also deviated to a large extent, and it is impossible to achieve the needs of protecting different people and equal status. What’s more, most of the resources and wealth fall into the class with status and power, or even exploit the class without power. Injustice appears in society where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
However, education is definitely a method and foundation platform to change this bad social situation. Although it is impossible for me to fully achieve and provide equality, as a Christian, this is a value that must be upheld to define this goal as the highest task. Therefore, as a leader in education, my team and I must hold this spirit and attitude and turn it into action. Not only do we bring God’s grace to everyone, but we also need to pass this literacy to every generation.
Today still have a lot of student cannot enjoy their learning because their different levels of disabilities and benefit (Ted, H., & Glaser, W.,2000) and an obvious gap between high and low-income households’ children having a computer at home and access to the internet (Becker, H., 2000). According to Ted, H., & Glaser, W. nearly 60% of the total students in the research department and have different levels of learning disabilities and emotional problems. (Ted, H., & Glaser, W.,2000) Each of the student’s needs and assistance is unique. Teacher experience and skills alone are not enough to fully assist these students in need. Technology can provide effective methods to provide opportunities for these students and help them to practice repeatedly, fully explore, and improve their skills. (Ted, H., & Glaser, W.,2000)
Students today are mostly growing up in the digital age. Many difficulties plagued students with special learning needs because of many sophisticated development advancements and breakthroughs, many problems have been solved for these needy students. (Ted, H., & Glaser, W.,2000) By thinking about fairness in the learning environment and encouraging educators to provide an equal learning opportunity, this atmosphere and environment need to be improved.
Coaching observe the principle and regardless of social status (race, sex, income level, education level, religious background), generation (peer to peer, elder to younger), disability and healthy. With the help of digital technology, everyone should be able to maintain equality regardless of class and age. Support and care for each other, create opportunities for everyone to learn and develop according to their abilities and needs. Reach ISTE Standards 4d propose.
Equivalent platforms and tools
Rather than imparting knowledge one-way, it is better to explore the knowledge and verify the credibility and correctness of information sources without distinction. At the same time, to ensure that all data and information on the platform are sufficiently verified to ensure authenticity, and to exclude and reduce unverified and subjectively misleading information, and to ensure that participants’ personal information and privacy are properly stored to avoid outsiders vent. Encourage to explore and develop technology and all unknown areas related to digital technology, change and adapt the new order of the digital age. (ISTE 7c,d)
In order to achieve the above goals, digital network and the internet will be the most effective method and tool to break all barriers of race, geography, time, ability, age and all gender. Hope that can actively establish or encourage the initiative of an online digital education platform. Implement and practice all the above concepts through this digital education platform. Let people in different categories not suffer any difficulties and obstacles, and try to be equal as the principle, help each other learn from each other and grow together.
